The Yingge Ceramics Museum is working under three approaches: to represent works locally, nationally, and internationally. The long-term goals for the next five years are developing the local culture in an international setting. We aim to develop with the community and strengthen our position as a diplomat of ceramic culture.
To reach our goal of local development in an international setting, we intend to achieve the following tasks:
- Further research on Taiwanese ceramics: Enlarge our databases on traditional and modern Taiwanese ceramics; to periodically consult scholars to solidify the contents of our researches; to work with professional publishers to simplify our materials for the public.
- Internationalize Taiwanese ceramics: Continue to host international competitions, exhibitions, and workshops, so that the museum can become a venue of international cultural exchange. To cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To plan international cultural events with a clear aims. At the same time, to establish a database of ceramic organizations and media and their contacts worldwide. To keep in touch with the contacts for an exchange of information to improve the world view and international reputation of Taiwanese ceramics.
- Specialize the educational services: Offer professional and unique ceramic classes, seminars, workshops on wood-fired kiln and firing techniques. Provide services not found in other ceramic classrooms.
- Diversify ways to publicize: Cooperate with members of related and unlike professions. Open up channels for diverse publicity methods. Reach out to potential audience and enlarge audience base. Use membership, periodicals, electronic newspaper, and website to communicate with the public and maintain their interest.
- Promote ceramic art-based tourism: Organize information on touring Taiwanese ceramic culture. Become a leader in the community to be internationally friendly. Gather local tourism materials and provide them to the tourism bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and international ceramics organizations. Enhance the value of ceramics-themed tourism in Taiwan and develop our cultural resources.
- Infuse corporate management techniques: Corporate management approaches could improve our work efficiency and service attitudes. In addition, the renewals and shifts of the employee hierarchy could encourage the museum staff to always be industriously competitive.
In addition, we will enhance the museum building. We have almost finished the first stage of the Ceramic Park construction and the second stage of the 8-hactre development behind the park. Meanwhile, the museum is working with new operation management to provide Taiwanese and foreign visitors with a diverse and developing ceramic culture.
