Statement
I am interested in notations scientists throughout history have made observing the inner workings of living things. I feel connected with these visual recordings as I attempt to resolve questions about the cycles of life, death and my relationship with the physical world. Of particular interest are the anatomical and botanical images rendered on the cusp of modern western history. My work seeks a quality of speculation about the unseen. My work correlates botanical and anatomical forms to reference commonalities between the life cycles of flora and the human body. The pieces convey both vulnerability and strength and exist, as we do in life, through a careful balancing of forces.
